Warlocks Journal – January 2017

The January Warlock Journal

As GMs it can be tricky sometimes to come up with stuff, be it a location, magic item, npc, weapons, monsters, background story etc.. The Warlocks Journal this time emulates one of the methods to overcome these tricky dry spells.

lexicon
dragonscale
freebooter

Seek inspiration in the three words above, let them take you places, let them create new places, people and items of power in your imagination. This time anything goes, you can submit any and everything for the Warlocks Journal. Well that is to say any and everything inspired by, derived by or craft from the three words above.

You do not have to use the words as words in a sentence, you can, but you can also use them as concepts and themes. Inspiration from random words is the idea this time.

Letting random words spark your imagination.

Like a … dragonbone pirateship clad in dragonscales for superior protection, forever sailing in the mist guarding the ancient lexicon of the dead.

That there was a very short one, Tiny Gork grants you a full 500 words to do with as you please.

Now it is true that sometimes one thing inspires another without any relation to each other, so make good use of the words available to make sure your reader understands a link between them.

The contest is open as of… right now!
You can submit your entry until the 15th of Feb.
You may submit up to 3 entries.
Each entry must take all three words into account: lexicon, dragonscale, freebooter.
Each entry must not exceed 500 words (title not included).
The winning entry will be personally selected by Tiny Gork himself.

The winning entry will recieve a PDF bundle, more info on this will follow it will be a collection worth somewhere between $20-35 all depending on what ends up getting into the bundle.

All entries will be compiled into a free PDF by TinyGork.

The Warlock Journal has changed pace, it is now a bi-monthly thing, so it stays with a host for two months, which is why the winner shall be declared upon the 28th of February 2017.

So let’s see what you can come up with!

Send YOUR Warlock Journal submission to gork@tinygork.com with the subject: Warlocks Journal January.

What is… The Warlocks Journal?

Vicki from Tabletopadventures.com:

The Warlock’s Journal is an interdimensional book that teleports from place to place, recording knowledge in whatever location it finds itself. The places it visits may be widely separated in time and space, and may even be in different dimensions or alternate realities.

The handful of people who have actually seen the book more than once suggest that it sends its information back to some central location. They have seen the book nearly filled with information, only to find it almost empty again, or filled with completely different information, at some later point.

Of course, since there is no real proof that the book itself travels through time in a linear manner, such analysis is speculation at best. What powerful entity could have created such a marvel? Where is the ultimate repository (if any) of the wealth of knowledge collected by the Journal in its roving, and is its creator still waiting there, learning about the multiverse? It is, perhaps, better not to know.
